  • Farial and Arash, engagement portraits.

    Ξ August 16th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Engagements |

Farial and Arash booked me for their August 30th nuptials, both the wedding and reception will be at the Hotel Sofitel. in Redwood City.

For their engagement session, Farial and Arash were looking for scenic rather than architectural settings.
We started in Golden Gate Park and ended with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge, from China Beach.

Golden Gate park was beautiful that day, I took them to a waterfall, one of my favorite little gems in the park.

Still in the park, we found some gorgeous light streaming through the trees.

We had fun with sunglasses and reflections.

No stranger to beach shoots, I still managed to get surprised by a wave and was soaked from head to toe! Arash was kind enough to run up to get a towel for me and my cameras!
Luckily, the Canons and I were still in working order, and we finished the session with some great sunset photos!

    Jennifer and Nimer, engagement portraits.

    Ξ August 16th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Engagements |

Jennifer and Nimer contacted me with great urgency, about 2 weeks before their wedding.
In a bind after some complications with their original photo/videography team, the big day was fast approaching.

We scheduled a last minute engagement session for the couple on the Sunday before the wedding.
Careful planning gave us time to shoot in one location (the Palace of Fine Arts), give them a break for dinner (while I edited with great haste), and just enough time left to choose an image for enlargement to display at the wedding.
So many images came out great, that we had a difficult time narrowing it down to just one; Jennifer solved this by asking us to design and print their menus as well. We created a double-sided design to incorporate two additional images.

Here are some of our favorites, (look for the infra-red shots)

    Diana & Eric, Engagement session

    Ξ August 9th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Engagements |

My associate photographer, Diana, got engaged this year…..guess who’s photographing the wedding? :)

As we are no strangers to engagement sessions, we decided to go beyond the normal San Francisco locales and have a little fun. Finding ourselves at the park between the (new) Academy of Sciences and the De Young Museum, we took some of my favorite images.

Taking our adventurous spirit towards BART, we caught a few great images at 16th & Mission before heading to the platforms below.

    Leia and Arthur, Engagement Portraits

    Ξ August 9th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Engagements |

Leia and Arthur found me through a wedding I photographed last year and we hit it off.
I’m really looking forward to their Lake Tahoe wedding on September 12th at Edgewood Golf Course.

For their engagement session, we hopped in the car with Ozzy (their pug), for a daytrip to Lake Tahoe.
They had wanted a unique engagement session experience, I jumped at the opportunity to scout the venue in advance and we all hoped for a bit of snow on the ground.

We didn’t see much snow on the drive up, so we stopped at a beautiful spot just on the river.

Closer to Tahoe we did find some snow and had a bit of fun playing, throwing, and making angels in the powdery goodness before making our way to the Edgewood Golf Course. This venue is right on the beach, and the light was perfect. Even Otis had a good time in front of the camera as he posed for ‘family’ portraits. I can’t wait to go back for the wedding.

    Deanna & Tim’s Engagement Portraits

    Ξ August 9th, 2009 | → 1 Comments | ∇ Engagements |

I met Deanna last year, when I photographed her brother’s wedding at Elliston Vineyards.
Deanna and Tim’s wedding will be at Mission San Jose in Fremont on November 14th, with a reception to follow at
Murrieta’s Well in Livermore. I’m really excited to be a part of their special day.

Their appreciation of the 1993 movie ‘So, I married an Axe Murderer‘ influenced our location choices for this shoot. Our first stop was Fog City Diner, a San Francisco favorite that became the backdrop for their ‘Save the Date’ cards.

Next, we stopped at the Palace of Fine Arts where a slight drizzle freshened the walkway with some beautiful reflections.

Merely damp at this point, we made our way to Baker Beach to catch the sunset. Although the sky had cleared and the threat of rain passed, Deanna and Tim soaked themselves playing in the surf.

Deanna and Tim are a really fun couple and it was such a pleasure to photograph their engagement session. We even stopped by one of their favorite pubs to warm up (and take just a few more shots) before heading home.

    Congratulations you two!

    Save The Date!

    Ξ March 3rd, 2009 | → 2 Comments | ∇ Engagements |

I just finished a save the date magnet for a wonderful couple getting married this September.  We copied the general design of the Warriors season ticket and integrated many personal touches, including some subtleties (the bar code numbers are their first date).  So, without further ado, here it is:

    Dominican University Engagement Portraits

    Ξ May 30th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Engagements |

Well it’s been a very busy couple of weeks with several more engagement sessions, two weddings this past weekend and some more baby sessions! So for starters here’s one of the engagement sessions from last week…

This gorgeous couple is Thera & Michael and they are going to be wed at Saints Peter & Paul Church in North Beach on Washington Square and then will have their reception at the Marine’s Memorial Club also here in San Francisco. We took their engagement portraits at Dominican University in San Rafael which is a lovely campus. Michael brought along his Harley which was a blast to photograph! These are my favorites from the day:

    Dawn & Kevin Engagement Portraits

    Ξ April 24th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Engagements |

Kevin & Dawn are getting married September 6, 2008. We went to the tulip gardens in Golden Gate Park and then to Ocean Beach for their engagement portraits. They were really great to work with! They were really relaxed in front of the camera and so obviously in love. These are my favorite images from our session.

    Marilyn & Gary Engagement Session

    Ξ April 11th, 2008 | → 2 Comments | ∇ Engagements, Portraits, Weddings |

It’s that beautiful time of year again with the cherry blossoms in full bloom and love in the air! We’ve got engagement sessions almost every week and sometimes two, so you should see lots of updates in the blog. This is the latest engagement session which included stops at Golden Gate Park and then the Legion of Honor and finally China Beach. It was another gorgeous day and another stunning sunset. Enjoy!

    030-mp-e-art.jpg
Marilyn and Gary started off a little bit shy (as does almost everyone) but they warmed up and started having fun very quickly.

    088-mp-e-art.jpg
Here I’m trying out a new technique I learned recently using a video light which after color correction subsequently turns the background blue. I think it’s a really cool effect.

    152-mp-e-art.jpg
This is one of my favorite photos of the day. It’s got a great sense of perspective with foreground, middle and background all lending to the beauty of the image.

    237-mp-e-art.jpg
I don’t know quite what it is, but I always love the cross process look. Especially at the beach!

I need a thesaurus… how many other words are there for beautiful/gorgeous/stunning sunsets?

I really like this image too :)

I had a wonderful engagement session last week with this beautiful couple and their son. These are my favorite images from the session. Please feel free to leave comments!

We started our session at Stow Lake in Golden Gate Park.

There were many great spots for photos all around. I especially like the little blue flowers that were in bloom on the hillside.

I caught this moment as we were wrapping up the location. The light shining down the path was just gorgeous.

We found some terrific cherry blossom trees to take photographs under.

Their son was full of energy and great to work with.

We ended up at China Beach for some great sunset photos.

I really love this one of the three of them just watching the sunset.
